Many legal practitioners do not possess an educational or formal practical background in the field of medicine or longterm care. They are, however, often faced with having to analyze medical records when preparing for a legal proceeding (deposition, hearing, or trial) to advance a claim or defense involving a partys medical condition. Further, the legal practitioner must wade through voluminous records that do not appear to be in any logical order and contain terms and abbreviations akin to a foreign language. This presentation will help the practitioner to understand the existence of different practices in the medical and longterm care realms recognize the structural organization of the various providers records become acquainted with the various terms used by the providers and the definitions of the same and how to utilize the record to support the legal claims or defenses advanced by the client.
